Black Rhino Consulting LLC (BRC) was founded in 2008 by Steve Santacroce, and is based in Rochester, New York. BRC has done work in the Health Industry, Wineries, Non Profits, Unions, and numerous Small Businesses. In 2013, the company’s first software product, Black Rhino Union (Brü) was released to cater to the much neglected Union Benefits market.
Steve Santacroce is a programmer and serial entrepreneur who’s been writing code since his parents first gave him a Commodore 64 for his 8th birthday. After graduating with a CS degree from RIT, he eagerly joined the ranks of zombies working for Corporate America. Realizing that he was not destined to be a grunt, he founded Black Rhino Consulting in 2008. Steve brings two decades of experience designing and delivering software. In his spare time, Steve was on the Board of Directors for the Gay Alliance of the Genesee Valley (February 2012 – August 2013) and continues to provide pro-bono IT support for the GAGV. In his spare time, he plays sand volleyball at Hotshots, one of the few indoor sand volleyball centers in the country. He currently resides in the sunny city of Rochester, NY, with his wife and dog, eagerly working to create software that improves companies’ productivity.
Jon Uhal began developing for Black Rhino Consulting in 2010, before becoming co-owner in January of 2012. His significant contributions have been instrumental towards the creation of Brü, a Union benefits SaaS, culminating in the launch of version 1.0 in January 2014. Jon is fluent in several programming languages and products, including: Java, Ruby on Rails, Endeca and MarkLogic.
Jon has also worked for a government contracting company for the past nine years providing Java development services throughout the development life cycle including design, development and customer support. These project have included integrating with other systems, back end database and application design and user interface development.
